Bio

Being born and raised in a Military family plays a strong role in my photography. A strong sense of discipline and routine has opened me up to a unique understanding of the world. This sense of order and understanding has pushed my pursuit as a photojournalist.
Unlike my family I was motivated towards Art and not towards military service. I studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and at Tufts University where I studied under Jim Dow, Bill Burke and several other outstanding working artists and photographers.
While in school, my internship with an e-commerce magazine grew into a staff photographer position. After graduation I moved to New York and immediately began assisting several incredible portrait photographers like David LaChapelle, Patrick Demarchelier,Andrew Eccles, David Johnson, Jim Wright and Brian Bowen Smith
In 2005, I took time off from my full-time assisting job with Andrew Eccles to work with the International Organization for Migration. Working with IOM took me all over Sri Lanka documenting their post-Tsunami relief efforts.
Since taking that initial step I have worked freelance for NGO’s and various media outlets in the Maldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan and in other countries around the world.
I have learned that taking a photograph is not always about being in the right place but also being open to the situation and the people around you.
I am currently based out of New York City.
